Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve taken some of the questions we get asked most frequently and compiled them in one place. If you can’t find the answer you're looking for in the list below

WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON MY FIRST VISIT?
After filling out your intake and consent forms prior to coming into the clinic, you will spend the first few minutes with Dr. Harlan discussing your symptoms in detail and going over your medical history. You will be given a comprehensive musculoskeletal exam that will look at your body from head to toe to get to the root cause of your issue. Then, if necessary, you will be asked to undress from the waist down and will be draped under a sheet. Dr. Harlan will explain and perform the internal pelvic floor exam. This is your experience, so if you aren’t comfortable with something, have experienced trauma or have too much pain, you are in full control and can adapt your session however is most comfortable for you. We will provide some treatment on the first visit if there is time, but we will be spending most of the time identifying the root cause of your complaints. Afterwards, you will discuss treatment plans and home exercises with Dr. Harlan and prep for future visits.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT?
Wear something that is comfortable to move in, and ideally something that is not too tight or difficult to move if we need to access areas that would be covered by clothing, such as the lower back or inner thigh. We can usually work around anything you’re wearing and have shorts you can wear if needed.
WHAT TYPES OF HEALTH INSURANCE DO YOU ACCEPT?
We are out of network with all insurance providers including Medicare and Medicaid, meaning we bill you for our services at time of service. We can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement under your out of network benefits.
WHY DON'T YOU ACCEPT MY INSURANCE?
Our decision to remain out of network was made for the benefit of our patients. Billing through insurance locks your provider in to a certain types and amounts of therapies they can provide and the amount of time they can spend with you. By eliminating the middle man, your physical therapist can have more control over your plan of care and work with you to make sure you are happy with your treatments. Your insurance doesn't know you, so why should they decide how you care for your health? Every service that we offer is included in each visit. That's transparency, and that's ease of access.
DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?
No, absolutely not! That is the whole point of Noble Pelvic Health. Direct care, when you need it, how you need it. Physical therapy is beneficial for every body, and you shouldn't need to go on a wild goose chase to get it. We are here for you.
